UFC 116: Lesnar vs. Carwin
(Heavyweight Title)
Date: July 3, 2010 Time: 10PM ET/7PM PT Location: Las Vegas, Nevada Broadcast: Pay-Per-View Betting: Bet on UFC 116 Odds
The UFC 116 will host one of the biggest heavyweight
title bouts in history, Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin. -
Brock Lesnar has not lost his Heavyweight title in a
fight. Shane Carwin holds the interim Heavyweight belt
after Lesnar left MMA. On July 3rd, 2010 one fighter
will lose their belt.
Brock Lesnar is 4-1 in his
MMA career. His single loss came at the hands of Frank Mir
in his UFC debut at UFC 81. Lesnar avenged the loss to Mir
by defending his Heavyweight title against Mir in UFC 100 on
July 11th, 2009. That was Lesnar's last fight. Lesnar was
originally slated to face Carwin for the title last November
until Lesnar fell ill after contracting diverticulitis. The
bout was re-scheduled for this past January until it seemed
like Lesnar's illness might be career-ending. Although his
life hung in the balance, Lesnar was able to make a
"miraculous" recovery and is excited to get back in the
Octagon after a year-long layoff.
During that period, Carwin showed his dominance at the top
of the division. His last fight was a first round knockout
of Frank Mir, in a fight that would give the winner the
interim Heavyweight title after Brock Lesnar walked away.
Shane Carwin has a perfect 12-0 MMA record and has a perfect
4-0 in the UFC with three of his four finishes coming under
two minutes, and now the Colorado native looks to stay
undefeated and take the undisputed UFC heavyweight
championship from Lesnar.
Also, Wanderlei Silva and
Yoshihiro Akiyama are official for a co-headlining the
185-pound middleweight bout at UFC 116. Silva, a former
Pride Fighting Championships star, will take on the ethnic
Korean fighter in a bout that will draw added interest from
Japanese MMA fans.
The 34-year-old Akiyama earned a split decision against Alan
Belcher in his Octagon debut at UFC 100 last July. A former
K-1 Hero’s light heavyweight champion, Akiyama has only been
defeated once against K-1 heavyweight Jerome LeBanner in
2005.
Silva, 33, is fresh off a triumphant return to the win
column in his most recent performance, a unanimous-decision
victory over Michael Bisping at UFC 110 in February.
Up until that point, Silva had faced questions of his
long-term viability when he went 1-3 inside the octagon,
including a knockout loss to Quinton "Rampage" Jackson at
UFC 92 and a decision slide to Rich Franklin at UFC 99.
After a seven-year absence from the UFC, "The Axe Murderer"
made his return to the promotion in December 2007 with a
unanimous decision loss to Chuck Liddell in a fight
considered to be among the year's best.

UFC MoneyLine Betting
Money lines are used in UFC betting online, as
well as over/under lines. The lines are based upon the odds
and you have several wagering options, such as a win by a
knockout or submission or referee stoppage. There is no point
spread in a money line; it simply shows the amount of money to
be won based on the amount of the wager. In general, the
negative line is for the favorite and the positive for the
underdog. As in other sports, you must bet more to win less
and bet less to win more.
With a
UCF Moneyline bet, All
bets on MMA events are considered official from the time of
the first bell. If the betting line is three-way, you have a
choice of betting on either contender or on a draw. In the
over/under line for UFC betting rounds, you are betting on
whether the UFC fight will end before or after the end of a
specific round. Rounds are usually timed for three & five
minutes. There are usually three rounds in UFC Matchups.
However, title fights are scheduled for five rounds.
The Ultimate Fighting Championships began in
1993. It redefined what martial arts was all about. It set in
motion, the battleground for the karate community, where
fighters from all backgrounds could come together and test
their art, mano o mano, man vs man against the best, all
trained in different arts. Set aside was the facade, the smoke
screens and the mystique behind each art and now naked before
you was the basic street fighter!
