The former two-time light heavyweight title
holder, Couture returns to the 205-pound division for the
first time since a 2006 loss to Chuck Liddell. The drop
shouldn't be drastic for the 46-year-old, as Couture weighed
just 220 pounds for his August headlining loss to Antonio
Rodrigo Nogueira at "UFC 102: Couture vs. Nogueira."
Vera has also competed at both heavyweight
and light heavyweight. "The Truth" has maintained his desire
to be a champion in both divisions, though 205 pounds is his
focus for the time being.
The 31-year-old has compiled a 3-1 record in the UFC's light
heavyweight division after dropping from heavyweight in 2008
following
back-to-back losses to Fabricio Werdum and Tim Sylvia. Vera
most recently fought in a unanimous-decision win over
Krzysztof Soszynski on the main card of the same UFC 102
event that saw Couture in the main-event bout.
Welterweights Dan Hardy and Dong Hyun “Stun Gun” Kim
are penciled in to collide at the Manchester Evening News
Arena. Hardy is coming off perhaps the biggest win of his
career, with a razor thin split decision over Marcus Davis
at UFC 99: “The Comeback” in June 2009. It was a super close
call and one that had most mixed martial arts fans divided
right down the middle.
Nonetheless, it was the third straight win for “The Outlaw”
inside the Octagon and his sixth since a disqualification
loss to Yoshiyuki
Yoshida in late 2007. In fact, Hardy has won 11 of his last
12 fights, including a devastating first round knockout of
Rory Markham and a
split decision win over the venerable veteran Akihiro Gono.
Dong Hyun “Stun Gun” Kim (12-0-1) has put together Octagon
victories over Jason Tan and Matt Brown before suffering a
split decision loss to Karo Parisyan. A defeat that was then
changed to a no contest after Parisyan tested positive for
banned painkillers.
Also, a middleweight fight between Michael Bisping and
Dennis Kang at UFC 105 on November 14 at the Manchester
Evening News Arena in
Manchester, England. Bisping will be looking to bounce back
from the devastating knockout loss suffered at the hands of
Dan Henderson at UFC 100, while Kang is currently 1-1 in the
UFC with an overall record of 32-11-1 plus 2 no contests. He
last fought at UFC 97 in April, where he defeated Xavier
Foupa-Pokam via unanimous decision.
Bisping (17-2), who had been approached about fighting
Wanderlei Silva in the UFC 105 main event before Silva
recently underwent surgery to repair a deviated septum, is
coming off a devastating knockout loss to Dan Henderson at
UFC 100 last month, his first loss since moving down to
middleweight in 2008. The Ultimate Fighter 3 winner is 7-2
in the UFC, including recent wins at 185-pounds over Charles
McCarthy, Jason Day, and Chris Leben prior to the loss to
Henderson.

The Ultimate Fighting Championships began in
1993. It redefined what martial arts was all about. It set in
motion, the battleground for the karate community, where
fighters from all backgrounds could come together and test
their art, mano o mano, man vs man against the best, all
trained in different arts. Set aside was the facade, the smoke
screens and the mystique behind each art and now naked before
you was the basic street fighter!
