Mir vs. Cro Cop
Heavyweight Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic has
fought and beaten some of the worlds best Mixed Martial Arts
fighters including Josh Barnett, Eddie Sanchez, and
Wanderlei Silva. He is also the 2006 Pride Open-Weight Grand
Prix Champion. Now Frank Mir on the other hand has beaten
some of the world’s best fighters too, such as Tim Sylvia,
antoni Hardonk, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Cheick Kongo, and
Brock Lesnar, and is also a deadly assassin once the fight
goes to the ground.
Frank Mir is known for his brutal submissions. He holds
notable victories over Tim Sylvia (armbar), Antoni Hardonk (kimura),
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (TKO punches), Cheick Kongo
(guillotine choke), and Brock Lesnar (knee bar).
Mir has all the tools to win this fight, particularly if it
goes to the ground. Mir certainly has the ability to take it
there.

Melvin Guillard vs. Jeremy Stephens - The
Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis will be rocking when
these two lightweights go to the cage, with "Young Assassin"
Guillard looking to make his mark against Stephens, the
fighter who debuted on his 21st birthday and has since gone
on to achieve 13 KOs in 18 outright wins.
Both fighters are on two-fight winning streaks, and
considering the KO power that each possesses, (although
Guillard may be a bit more technical with his striking),
this one has the makings of a barn-burner.
Guillard, 27, has regained career momentum after taking
residence with famed trainer Greg Jackson. Once a fighter
with exceptional stand-up skills and a questionable ground
game, "The Young Assassin" has rounded out his game with
diligent work on his takedown defense and grappling skills.
Guillard (24-8-2) scored a first-round TKO of newcomer
Waylon Lowe at last month’s UFC 114 for his fifth victory in
his last six fights, then called out Stephens (18-5), who
has rebounded from back-to-back losses with a “Knockout of
the Night” of Justin Buchholz in September and a “Fight of
the Night” victory over Sam Stout at UFC 113 in May.
Stephens has earned victories over Justin Bucholz and Sam
Stout, respectively. His win over Bucholz broke a two fight
losing skid that saw the Iowan succumb to defeat to Joe
Lauzon and Gleison Tibau. His most recent fight, a
hard-fought, split decision win over Stout at UFC 113 netted
him a Fight of the Night bonus and has many praising his
striking abilities as he was often able to out-strike Stout,
a respected kick boxer. Melvin Guillard vs. Jeremy Stephens
are projected to compete during the televised main card
portion of the event.
The rest of the televised portion of the ufc 119 event,
which also includes Ryan Bader vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira,
Matt Serra vs. Chris Lytle, and Evan Dunham and Sean Sherk.

How to bet on UFC fights
Unlike football as basketball where there are point spreads
(ex. -7, +13.5) UFC fights have odds which are called
moneylines. A moneyline is basically a way for the
sportsbooks to even out the betting public. So for example
if Brock Lesnar was fighting a no name guy in his first
fight, Lesnar would be a HUGE favorite, probably around
-4400 or so (44 to 1). If there was no moneyline, you could
just bet on the favorite everytime, and become a millionaire
pretty quickly.
UFC MoneyLine Betting
Money lines are used in UFC betting online, as
well as over/under lines. The lines are based upon the odds
and you have several wagering options, such as a win by a
knockout or submission or referee stoppage. There is no point
spread in a money line; it simply shows the amount of money to
be won based on the amount of the wager. In general, the
negative line is for the favorite and the positive for the
underdog. As in other sports, you must bet more to win less
and bet less to win more.
With a
UCF Moneyline bet, All
bets on MMA events are considered official from the time of
the first bell. If the betting line is three-way, you have a
choice of betting on either contender or on a draw. In the
over/under line for UFC betting rounds, you are betting on
whether the UFC fight will end before or after the end of a
specific round. Rounds are usually timed for three & five
minutes. There are usually three rounds in UFC Matchups.
However, title fights are scheduled for five rounds.
The Ultimate Fighting Championships began in
1993. It redefined what martial arts was all about. It set in
motion, the battleground for the karate community, where
fighters from all backgrounds could come together and test
their art, mano o mano, man vs man against the best, all
trained in different arts. Set aside was the facade, the smoke
screens and the mystique behind each art and now naked before
you was the basic street fighter!
